Mirinesse concerts begin March 7!

The 2020 Mirinesse Women’s Choir concert season begins March 7.
Richer for Her is a powerful program, drawing its inspiration from the texts of female poets over many centuries set to music by outstanding American and Canadian composers.
As solo conductor for the first time since Beth Ann and I founded Mirinesse in 2006, I was challenged to create a cohesive program with flow from beginning to end. I was particularly drawn to texts written by women which could express who the women of Mirinesse are. How do we sing our story?
Richer for Her is the title of a beautiful poem by Charlotte Tall Mountain, a poet of Iroquois heritage, beautifully set by Andrea Ramsey. The poem’s ending ‘and the world was richer for her’ sums up everything I feel about this program and the rich gifts each of our singers brings to Mirinesse. The breadth of the texts and the diversity of the settings serve to express the complexity of being a woman in our world. Please join us in March for this dynamic program.
